Are professionally graded coins more valuable?

selling an estate coin collection

Yes, professionally graded coins often carry a higher market value, especially when certified by trusted grading services such as PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service), NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company), or ANACS (American Numismatic Association Certification Service).

These third-party graders are known for their consistency and strict standards, which is why many dealers will even buy coins certified by them sight unseen.

Coins graded by lesser-known companies typically don’t command the same premiums, as their grading standards may not be trusted by collectors or dealers. Additionally, a CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) sticker – used to verify that a coin is high-end for its grade – can add even more value to a coin already graded by PCGS or NGC.
